Building Live is the inaugural single-day Building conference, delivering essential and unique client insights to win more work and deliver future projects. With a curated programme built on 170 years of trusted expertise from Building magazine, in partnership with BD and Barbour ABI, you will hear exclusive client plans, and their needs from the supply chain.
Ben Derbyshire will be giving a presentation with two main themes:
1) Design features of the Home of the Future - this will be based on our entry for the Barratt/AJ Home of the Future competition which features a range of house types capable of adaptation for a wide variety of inter-generational family lifestyles. We pioneered prototypes of this built form at our experimental Hanham Hall project which gave us invaluable feedback.
2) The future of Design Practice - I will speculate about new forms of architectural practice in which a wide variety of relationships will exist between architects and the means of production, all operating within an over-arching ethical framework. That will feature a commitment to consumer engagement, sustainable design, to predicting and measuring building performance, to post occupancy evaluation.
