The substantial increase in public funding for schools provides an opportunity for design professionals to work with schools to improve the environment they provide for students, teachers and the community.
The quality of life for children and young people is directly affected by the design quality of the built environment in which they conduct their daily activities. Working with the schools our design development process is a unique educational tool for people of all ages to develop healthy lifestyles within sustainable landscapes.
HTA design philosophy is to provide simple, beautiful, adaptable and multifunctional places with an identity and function for people to use and enjoy. Schools require versatile spaces for pupils to learn, grow, communicate, be educated and for teachers to facilitate student enhancement.
We work together to understand school’s specific needs and create inspiring educational environments designed with and for pupils to enhance education, personal and physical development and improve quality of life.
The process of engaging young people in designing high quality places gives the next generation tools to keep themselves safe and physically and mentally healthy; to enjoying their surroundings and achieve beyond the responsibilities of everyday life and taught curriculum; to make a positive contribution to their own community; and to be aware of design as a profession and create a desire for a better quality environment into the future.
The detail of the design is developed with teachers, pupils and their design champions, funders and cost consultants to develop spatial opportunities for formal, informal and ‘hidden’ curriculum learning and play activities. HTA works with construction experts and understands cost requirements to ensure the quality of your vision is buildable, delivered on site and maintained.
Our process is particularly applicable to education projects, HTA delivers a managed step by step design process aimed to build consensus with all stakeholders, establish a thorough understanding of the site, meet the funder’s requirements, maximise the use of all available space throughout the year and facilitate a vision to inspire pride in ownership. This is particularly important for the design of learning and recreational spaces.
