The vision for St George’s School is to convert a patchwork of existing hard surfaces with limited opportunity for activity other than high pace informal sport to a stimulating environment to meet the school’s educational needs and provide additional quieter social interaction spaces.
Using CABE design guidance, we have created planted calm garden spaces and sports viewing galleries to surround and buffer a new multi use games area. A new external classroom facility and fitness space is located on the roof of a new three story building utilising all available external space on this confined site. The appearance of the school’s public facing elevations to the surrounding residential area of Maida Vale have been softened by the extensive use of green walls of climbing planting.
