A great panel discussion organised by HTA with the Association of Women in Property and Savills presenting design aspects of the Build to Rent sector took place on the 25th July at Savill’s Central London offices. A warm welcome for guests attending to hear panellists Michela Hancock from Greystar, Lucy Smith from HTA Design LLP, Polly Simpson from Savills, Kate Freer from Realstar and chaired by Alex Notay from Places for People to talk about the issues and their experience of addressing them.
A great deal of this very broad subject area was considered openly and in a collaborative spirit. The varied viewpoints highlighted the importance of the public realm, the value of retaining tenants and getting the more prosaic aspects of building design right to enable efficient service delivery. It was clear this sector isn’t all about the bells and whistles and the tenants themselves can make a contribution to the type of amenities provided, and that a positive resident experience encourages longer tenancies.
