HTA Planning team highly commended for Planning Excellence
Our planning team were delighted to attend the Royal Town Planning Institute’s (RTPI) Awards for Planning Excellence 2019 yesterday evening, being shortlisted as finalists in three categories.
The RTPI Awards are the most established and respected awards in the UK planning industry. Running for 40 years, they celebrate exceptional examples of planning and the contribution planners make to society.
Highly Commended for Planning Excellence to Deliver Homes (Large Schemes) – Castleward Urban Village
HTA Design’s planning team collaborated with their in house design teams to deliver this expansive scheme.
The vision of the development team to make Castleward a thriving place transformed this neglected central area into a new urban neighbourhood and business area. Castleward in Derby is an important large city centre regeneration providing over 800 new homes, a school, shops, community buildings and offices, removing the existing surface car parks and run down industrial sites.
The development team worked collaboratively with the City Council to produce an agreed deliverable and realistic strategic planning approach. This collaboration helped HTA Design deliver an innovative and creative scheme and Compendium Group deliver the first phase of the urban regeneration.
RTPI Judges praised the scheme saying ““this was a great example of plan-led regeneration. It offers a wide range of amenities and community benefits and links together multiple parts of the city centre. The commitment to delivering social and affordable housing in this scheme was also commended.””Other categories our team were finalists in include Small Planning Consultancy of the year, which it was an honour to be nominated for again, having won in 2016, as well as excellence to deliver housing (small schemes) for Brickworks Community Centre and Affordable Housing.
Planning Partner, Riette Oosthuizen commented:
“We are immensely proud to have achieved a commendation for Castleward. Its success as a place reflects our ongoing commitment to collaboratively find the best solutions for communities”.
