25 May 1976 - 8 July 2017
We are sad to announce the passing of our friend and colleague Frank Siepmann.
Frank studied at the University of Applied Sciences in Stuttgart where he gained his Diploma in Architecture in 2007. Prior to HTA he worked in Germany for Behnisch Architects and Planungsgruppe Riedenberg on several national and international projects (both commercial and housing) and numerous international competitions including the London Aquatic Centre. He joined HTA in April 2008 and remained with us for 8 years until April 2016. During his time at HTA he completed his professional qualifications and developed his knowledge and experience; playing an increasingly pivotal role on many projects. He was also the brains behind our in-house CAD system known as HTA-CAD, and although it is now more than a year since Frank left HTA, his legacy endures. The highly specialised tools he developed for the practice remain in daily use by scores of colleagues in London, Edinburgh and Manchester.
Frank had a unique and unmistakable character. His highly rational approach to his work was underpinned with an optimistic demeanour. And he was a firm believer in the potential for technology as the key to progress. We shall miss him.

Architecture for Humanity
Frank was a keen supporter and an active participant in Architecture for Humanity. At his memorial service on 20 July, his family explained it was Frank’s expressed wish for charitable donations to be given to this charity to enable them to continue their vital work around the word.
