HTA wins AJ100 Business Breakthrough of the Year award Picture 1

HTA are honoured to receive the AJ100 Business Breakthrough of the Year award.

The AJ100 Business Breathrough award is given to the practice which has shown ’the greatest level of successful business creativity or entrepreneurship’ and looks at how ’positive change’ has impacted on company finances. Practices are judged on new business strategies which have halted a period of decline, the development of a new service to clients, opening up new revenue streams, and investment in research and design.

HTA complements its growing work in build-to-rent with a serious commitment to volumetric construction.

Research trips to the USA led to a number of realised projects, notably Apex House in Wembley, north London, a student housing tower believed to be the tallest modular building in Europe. The practice took 80 developers to visit the tower, to spread the message.

Modular now accounts for 12 per cent of total turnover, which rose from £5 million in 2013 to £12 million in 2017. HTA has changed its business practices, training project leaders to understand the costs better and the implications of the different way of working that modular construction brings.

The judges said: ‘HTA has taken its early opportunity in the private rented sector and run with it, including feeding back into the way it runs its business.’
