A group of 12 staff at HTA Design LLP aim to raise over £10,000 for national homeless charity Shelter in the Prudential Ride London-Surrey 100 on 2nd August. The team, composed of members of staff across HTA’s various teams and national offices, will cycle 100 miles in the cyclists’ equivalent of the London Marathon, being tested by stiff climbs as they pass from London’s roads into the beautiful countryside of Surrey. To date, they have cycled over 10,000 km in training, and the rest of the office are pitching in with a host of fundraising initiatives such as bake sales, a pub quiz and a volleyball tournament.
HTA is a multidisciplinary architecture and design practice working exclusively in the housing sector, so Shelter’s work is not only close to its heart but aligned with its own concerns and interests. Shelter is a national charity providing advice for those at risk of homelessness, researching housing need, supply and affordability, and campaigning for more and better social and private rent housing, two areas in which HTA is particularly involved. James Lord, one of the riders and Partner for the Landscape team, says, “Work like Shelter’s both informs and champions the design and placemaking work that HTA do. It is important that we support them, both through our professional efforts and with the funds they need to continue their vital work.”
The team are well on the way to meeting their target, but are looking for more sponsors to give them that final push. If you’d like to cheer them on with a donation, visit https://www.justgiving.com/htadesignllp.
