incl. in attendance

HTA will be attending Pride in London this Saturday and will start the day at RIBA's Pride Breakfast event at Portland Place.

Our staff are made up of a diverse range of nationalities, ethnicities, sexualities and from varying economic and social backgrounds. We have a Diversity & Inclusion group that meets regularly to discuss the changing needs of our staff, clients and the communities in which we work. We believe that our business is enriched because of the diversity within our staff: each member of our team brings something to help shape and form the way in which we work together, and we are better because of this.

Last year, we established an LGBTQ group, called 'incl.usive' with branding created using the font Gilbert, named after the gay rights activist Gilbert Baker.

Baker was an artist and friend and fellow activist alongside Harvey Milk - the first openly gay person to hold a position of high public office in a major US city, when he was elected to San Francisco's Board of Supervisors in 1977. Post-election, Milk  challenged Baker, to design a new, positive and recognisable symbol representative of the gay community - to replace the pink triangle. The Nazis had previously used the pink triangle to identify and persecute gay people, but it was reclaimed in the 1970s as a symbol of remembrance of what had gone before and of positive direct action against discrimination and violence, towards gay people.
And so the rainbow flag was created, each colour representative of the values they had been fighting for; sexuality, healing, nature and the sun, art, harmony and spirit.

incl. was set up by members of HTA's staff who identify as LGBTQ, to establish a network and to support and educate internally, as well as networking with other organisations.

HTA is an organisation that values diversity and inclusion. We have a strong established people-focussed staff culture and have corporate values that we developed collaboratively across the organisation.
