Mark joined HTA in 2016 as BIM Lead for the Edinburgh office. He is responsible for BIM in Edinburgh, bringing the benefits of collaboration and coordination to projects of all types and at all stages. Mark also manages the office BIM development and training and develops HTA workflows.
Previous to HTA, Mark worked as a national award winning Architect and BIM Co-ordinator at Architecture firms including AHMM and Reiach & Hall, from inception to construction, on projects across the UK, in the Residential, Education and Healthcare Sectors.
Greenford Green – Mark successfully led BIM implementation and consultant coordination for Tender information of the £90m mixed use scheme in Ealing, East London. As well as developing and managing the BIM and its protocols, he was hands on to produce project deliverables and provide team member training. The scheme required the coordination of information from a range of consultants which were brought together in Revit and Navisworks.
BIG100 – Mark utilised BIM to undertake feasibility studies for the design and documentation of the masterplan for the 700 unit scheme in Dundashill, Glasgow. He developed workflows to allow early stage indicative massing studies with their associated schedules, these were then refined into individual unit breakdowns with required parking, green spaces and transport infrastructure. The use of innovative BIM workflows enabled 3D printing and visualisations to be extracted from the same model.
2.5D System Analysis – Mark worked with a major steel company to develop a modular ‘kit of parts’ for use in the volume house building sector. The scheme required breaking down a flexible house design into its component parts and junctions, these were then rationalised and assessed for buildability, suitability and robustness. BIM was used to holistically investigate the proposal, generating the drawings and quantifying materials.
