Simon is a chartered town planner and chartered surveyor with extensive experience in the fields of town planning, development Management, acquisition and viability assessments. Simon’s specific fields of expertise are residential and mixed use developments, both small and large scale, and student accomodation.

Simon has previously advised a wide range of clients in planning consultancy whilst working at CB Richard Ellis and Tribal Group and has negotiated planning permissions for a variety of residential and mixed use developments throughout London and the south east of England. Simon has also worked for development companies including Taylor Wimpey and CALA Group, and has managed major development schemes and land acquisition programmes.

Significant projects Simon has worked on include: 

Wembley: Apex House, Felda House and Grand Felda House. Simon has secured planning permission for 3 buildings of up to 29 storeys providing over 1,800 new student residential units. These projects, are delivered by Tide Construction and Vision Modular Systems using highly advanced off-site techniques. Apex House is a 29 storey building which was completed in a year using this construction methodology, and has created 560 student rooms with communal facilities located around a landscaped courtyard.

Simon is also working with Tide Construction on major development projects in a number of other London Boroughs including Croydon, Islington, Hammersmith & Fulham and Redbridge.

City of Westminster - Ebury Bridge Estate: Simon worked with the City West Homes to achieve unanimous planning approval for the partial re-development of the Ebury Estate to deliver a mixed use scheme that involves demolition of 8 buildings (174 flats) and the construction of 273 new flats with an increase in affordable social rent housing and A1/A2/D1 uses.

HTA planning led the consultant team and mediated discussions through the pre-planning process cumulating in a positive recommendation to council members and a planning approval.

Castleward, Derby: Simon is acting as planning consulant to Compendium Group, a joint venture bwetween Lovell and Riverside Housng. The Castlewatrd development is a major regeneration scheme in the centre of Derby, which will include over 800 mixed tenure residential units, retail and other commercial units at ground floor level. The area is currently consists of a variety of underutilised car parks, industrial units and warehouses in a prominent central location close to the city centre and station. The scheme will include a new primary school and community centre for local people and new residents, and investment in recreation and open space in the area.

Former Ada Lewis House, Islington: Simon led the planning application and subsequent successful appeal for Southern Housing Group for this redevelopment of a former hostel site in Islington with the development of 50 unit mixed tenure residential scheme. The key issues which were successful argued at appeal including : appropriate viability and affordable housing, and design, scale and massing.

Current projects Simon is working include:

Former Essex House, Croydon: Simon is lead planning consultant for the redevelopment of this significant site, located next to east Croydon station. The scheme pusued will be a 44 storey modular building providing over 500 apartments in a Build to Rent scheme. The ground floot will nclude a gallery and business incubator space, with a covered winter garden area facing towards the station.

Lower Graylingwell: Simon is working with Hill Partnership and the HCA to secure planning permission for 160 new houses and flats on a green field site on the edge of Chichester. The scheme will include a new community centre and pavilion, refurbished playing field.
