HTA Planning is providing planning consultancy for the Compendium Group in connection with its bid to become Development Partner with Derby City Council to re-develop the Castleward area of Derby City Centre. The re-development proposals would consist of approximately 800 homes and 16,000 sqm commercial floorspace, including retail, office and leisure uses. The Castleward area sits within the area of a draft Area Action Plan, and Derby City Council are the freeholders for a significant proportion of the land within the development area. The area lies between the main shopping areas and the station, and the redevelopment has the potential to revitalise an important area within the city centre. We reviewed national, and city wide policies, and are providing advice to assist Compendium Group ensure that its proposals sit within the planning policy framework for the area, and meet the aspirations of the Council as development partners.
