HTA Planning has obtained planning permission for the Fitzroof Partnership, the owners of two facing rows of Victorian terraces (12 properties in total) , located in the Primrose Hill Conservation Area, for the erection of a mansard roof extension. This is a unique planning proposition in that the applicants are a group of local residents with a shared vision for the future of their local street. The proposal provides additional residential accommodation, allowing residents to remain within their local neighbourhood, whilst enabling them to cater more flexibly for the needs of their growing families. The mansard roof extension will be built as a single contract, resulting in a uniform and symmetrical effect. Planning policy and conservation area guidance is against the erection of mansard roof extensions on the properties, but HTA Planning has demonstrated how the scheme is appropriate because of the sensitive and respectful design, and the fact that the proposal originates from a group of local residents with a shared vision of what is considered an acceptable and desirable proposal, supported through extensive consultation with other local residents.
