Gilbert Street

This high quality, low-rise, mixed-tenure family housing scheme for Origin Housing, was completed in 2012 following a comprehensive but relatively short-time framed design process.

A full design, to planning submission stage, was completed on a tight timescale in order to satisfy the site acquisition requirements. This meant the team had 8 weeks to design, coordinate and submit a full planning application, and to do this we worked closely with London Borough of Enfield officers who were very responsive. As the programme was so tight we did not have much time to meet with local neighbours, and several meetings were held after the application had been submitted.

We also met with London Borough of Enfield’s Placeshaping committee who had positive comments which we were able to incorporate into the design.

The overall result is 63 new homes, built using high quality materials on this former dairy site. HTA’s Landscape team contributed to the public realm, and Graphic team designed bespoke signage for the project.

The project meets the Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4 using high quality building fabric and roof mounted PhotoVoltaic panels.
