South Acton Bid
Acton Gardens is a brand that we created and developed over an 18month period, whilst working with a team comprised of L&Q, Countryside Properties, HTA Architects and Alison Brooks Architects to deliver a two stage competitive response for this prime London Borough of Ealing regeneration project. The core theme to our bid-winning proposal, was to connect usable, green spaces across this much maligned estate comprised of around 2,500 homes. The connected green spaces include gardens, shared courtyards, allotments, roof terraces, public parks and enhanced streetscapes. We associated the design of both stages of the competition, with this core theme, illustrating chapters with Darwin-esque vector illustrations and taglines exploiting the richness of the material content.
We have subsequently worked with the stakeholder team to address consultation with such a large project, approaching residents variously; at public events, with a consultation website and print materials including newsletters distributed door to door. We are currently undertaking a Design Code process with the Urban Designers to ensure quality is woven throughout every scheme opportunity.
