Trinity Square, Barnet
HTA have taken this project from concept through to working drawings with a strong design narrative focused around brick detailing. The site was home to Barnet and Southgate College but identified in the Adopted London Plan as the ‘Colindale and Burnt Oak Opportunity Area’. The development consists of 404 new homes and three public amenity spaces due to complete summer 2019. Designed with a focus on orientation and the balance of built form they also maximise acoustic and thermal performance and natural light to making the homes efficient and retain continuity with the surrounding environment.
With housing arranged in traditional streets the layout of the development preserves the local identity of homes for families, and improves connections with surrounding areas. A mixture of apartments and maisonettes with a proportion being affordable and a number adaptable for wheelchair use. Homes are designed in line with the London Plan, Lifetime Homes, Secure by Design, and Barnet Housing Standards. The choice of building materials supports this with typical London brick with contemporary detailing.
