Competition-winning proposals to work with residents to redesign Dee Park Partnership - comprising Catalyst Housing Group Ltd, HTA (architects, masterplanners and landscape designers) and Inspace Plc - has been chosen as preferred bidder to transform a large 1960s estate at Dee Park, Reading.
The existing blocks of flats that blight the area will be demolished to make way for 763 new, high quality homes, 281 for affordable rent and 482 for private sale. A revitalised centre, with new community and youth facilities, shops and a new extended primary school also form part of the regeneration scheme. Extensive landscape design of the 33 ha site will benefit all residents and provide private and communal green space, play facilities and improved parking areas.
Dee Park residents were consulted throughout the two year competitive dialogue process, including regular meetings with the Community Regeneration Action Group (CRAG), and their comments were then incorporated into the designs.
