Transforming a derelict industrial site along the Grand Union Canal, this development has revitalised Ealing with 2,118 new homes, commercial spaces, and community hubs. Greenford Quay exemplifies excellence in social sustainability and urban design.
A new pedestrian footbridge connects the site to over 190,000 square feet of retail and commercial space, previously inaccessible to the wider community, while 27-hectares of revitalised public realm prioritises residents’ well-being and plays a crucial role in the areas wider regeneration. A new public plaza, featuring dancing fountains, an amphitheater, and a nature-rich landscape along the restored canal banks serve as popular community gathering spots for residents and visitors alike. Greenford Quay amphitheater and community spaces host a variety of events, including cinema screenings, music festivals, and food markets.
Demonstrating a strong commitment to sustainability, Greenford Quay employs Tide and Vision’s offsite construction technology to significantly reduce waste and carbon emissions. The development exemplifies circular economy principles by repurposing demolition materials for the amphitheatre and public square. Additionally, it incorporates an Energy Centre for district heating, roof-mounted solar panels, extensive green roofs to increase biodiversity, and a sustainable travel plan promoting public transport, electric vehicles, and cycling.
