HTA hosts Beyond the Box for People’s Pavilion workshops

9 Apr 2025

This week, HTA was joined by Beyond the Box and the 2025 People’s Pavilion cohort as part of their weeklong workshop program.

The People’s Pavilion is a project that challenges received expectations on who can design, plan, and curate cultural civic space in our city. Working with London’s young people through collaborative design and explorative production workshops, Beyond the Box proposes a new approach to designing the city.

During their workshop at HTA, students were grouped and tasked with exploring different aspects of design to present in group discussion. HTA Architectural Assistants Mauro Mosca, Evan Hall, Rosie Bannerman, and Indigo Leveson-Gower supported the students with design prompts and suggestions on how they might further visualise their ideas through drawing and model making.

Outreach Lead Shawn Adams and HTA architects spent time with the students discussing career aspirations and university applications, as well as what it’s like to work at HTA.

Students came away with an understanding of design process and how the context of a locality can influence design decisions.

This year’s People’s Pavilion will be installed at William Morris Gallery and will coincide with their summer Morris Mania exhibition. William Morris Gallery is the 2025 cultural partner for The People’s Pavilion, an alignment that reflects William Morris’ legacy of community, craft, and social justice.
