HTA hosts the Property Development Book Club’s Summer Party

25 Jul 2024

HTA recently played host to the Property Development Book Club’s (PDBC) Summer Party at our Hackney Wick studio. The event provided a valuable platform for seasoned experts and aspiring talent in the built environment industry to network, exchange ideas, and share experiences.

PDBC’s Summer Party was headlined by a panel discussion exploring the general election’s impact on housebuilding. The panel featured Jeanette Eccleston, Jodie McCarthy, Maribel Manetecon, and Toyin Omodara, with Adewole Ademolake introducing and Yemi Aladerun chairing.

This conversation generated optimism for the industry’s future while acknowledging the challenges in meeting housing targets within the next five years, such as rising interest rates, build costs, and limited government support. Panellists also explored critical topics, including potential quick wins for the government to stimulate new housing delivery, indicators of increased public sector activity, shifts in optimism among architectural practices and clients, and the timeline for planning reforms to drive tangible changes in decision-making.

For those who couldn’t join on the night, a video recording will be shared by the Property Development Book Club soon and the panel discussion will be available on their podcast.

Congratulations to Adewole Ademolake for a successful night filled with interesting conversations and new connections. It was a pleasure to host the Property Development Book Club in our studio.

We are proud to have supported PDBC alongside sponsors Goodman Masson, Featherstone Homes Ltd (Southeast), Pointe Michel, and A’lake.

Thanks also to Vinn Goutte for providing delicious Seychelles street food; Slice Club and their team for fantastic pizzas; and as always, to Howling Hops for their local beer.
