The Landscape Institute invited James Lord, Head of Landscape at HTA, to lead a guided walk exploring the new green spaces emerging in Canary Wharf. The event showcased the ongoing regeneration of the area into a mixed-use neighbourhood that balances business with living, leisure, and nature.
The tour began at Eden Dock, a striking new waterfront public space. Formed from pontoons and floating, planted islands, it creates a dynamic interface between water and landscape. The dock is designed not only as a place for people to gather and enjoy the water’s edge, but also as a habitat that enhances biodiversity and improves the ecological value of the dockside environment.
After a short walk, the tour concluded in Wood Wharf, the newest phase of Canary Wharf’s transformation. This pedestrian-focused neighbourhood integrates public squares, pocket parks, and tree-lined streets with homes, workplaces, and community spaces.
A huge thank you to everyone who braved the rain and the tube strikes to take part in this fascinating and inspiring tour.
