Kidbrooke Park Road North Wins a Housing Design Award

5 Sep 2025

Kidbrooke Park Road North was recognised with the Mayor of London Award at this year Housing Design Awards.

Designed by HTA and delivered by Durkan for the Royal Borough of Greenwich and Greenwich Builds, the project is the first phase of a wider council-led programme that will ultimately deliver 445 new homes, making it the largest new council housing development in England.

This first phase, delivered in just four years from planning to completion, provides 122 net-zero, 100% affordable council homes, alongside new public realm, landscape, and social infrastructure.

The scheme includes a new nursery adjacent to communal green space and pedestrian routes, with dedicated classrooms, a dining hall, and over 2,500m² of age-specific play areas, exceeding GLA standards. The landscape strategy incorporates rain gardens, meadow planting, and 175 new trees, contributing to an Urban Greening Factor of 0.60. The project achieves a 68% reduction in regulated carbon emissions, significantly surpassing the 35% London Plan target.

It’s fantastic to see the project recognised at this level. Congratulations to the whole team involved.
