The transformation of the old South Acton housing estate across 52 acres, Acton Gardens will increase the number of homes from 1,800 to 3,400, rehousing all the existing residents.

Six new parks totalling 11 acres are being created across the district, spread evenly throughout the housing blocks.

West Park will have a new adventure trail, play equipment and an outdoor gym. Dark alleyways are being converted into tree-lined walkways.

“With social distancing in place, parks have never been more important,” says James Lord of HTA Design, the landscape architects at Acton Gardens. “We have created pocket parks for play, exercise and socialising. Buildings have been carefully configured around mature trees.”

Acton Gardens is a short walk from Acton Town Tube, from where the journey via the District line to Westminster takes half an hour. Crossrail will run from nearby Acton Town station.
