In 2013 HTA were appointed by Ealing Council to carry out a feasibility study on a number of redundant garage sites across the borough. Working with Hill Partnerships we have gained consent for 23 planning applications, so far nine sites have been constructed. The new affordable houses are very popular with the residents, and the shared ownership and sale homes across the completed sites were all sold quickly.
The first 4 sites were submitted for planning in February 2015 with subsequent sites being issued in small batches since, the final site Seasprite close is due to be submitted for planning early 2018. All sites have been to committee, one site was deferred but following minor amendments received planning approval along with the rest of the sites.
The London Borough of Ealing identified a number of sites under their ownership which were surplus to requirements. All of the sites were either underutilised or vacant. 23 sites have been brought forward in 3 batches with a total of 291 new homes proposed, creating much-needed affordable homes for affordable rent, and private sale.
The local communities were given the opportunity to comment on the emerging designs which were presented or issued via flyer to properties in the area immediately surrounding the proposal sites.
