The Wiltern is a Build to Rent scheme situated within London Borough of Ealing adjacent to the M40, comprising of 305 units and associated communal space. To the south of the site lies the Art Deco masterpiece the Hoover Building and its former canteen, both Grade II*Listed Buildings.
The proposal is defined by a tower and an intersecting linear element. The linear element creates frontage to the Tesco car park and ensures minimal impact on the surrounding context. The taller building aligns with the entrance to the Hoover Building, centralising the tower within its historical context.
The dual aspect units which occupy the corners of the scheme provide panoramic views across the surrounding areas, with kitchen and living areas designed to extend seamlessly into the balconies. The elevational treatment and sweeping curves take cues from the Art Deco era, with strong horizontal bands of white glazed brick and alternating bands of terracotta panels and glazing.
