About the role
Our dedicated Sustainability & Building Physics team are seeking a talented and motivated Building Physics Consultant to join us to become Head of Building Physics. This is a new role in the practice and reflects the growing need for specialisation in the field of Sustainability. Working alongside the Partner responsible you will take a leading role in the practice, apply your skills to existing and new projects, and develop and lead a team of analysts to deliver compelling, competent, and coherent strategies to help our team of architects and other disciplines to deliver the beautiful and sustainable buildings.

The Head of Building Physics will work in collaboration with colleagues from across the practice, providing expert advice and input on projects at all stages, from the beginning, through to construction. They will take responsibility for completing packages of work allocated by the Partner for Sustainable Futures and achieving the required quality standards in accordance with the project plan and objectives.

About you

To be considered, the successful candidate will have:

  •  M.Sc. Plus 5 years+ of relevant experience in a relevant field of work.
  • Multiple accreditations (i.e. BREEAM, SAP, DEA, CEEQUAL, IEMA, CIBSE) with 5 years+ experience.
  • Significant, externally recognised expertise in a relevant specialism with 5 years+ experience.
  • Experience of working in the residential construction industry and expertise in residential design and the sustainable design of buildings and places across a wide range of project types and scales.
  • Proven experience as an energy/sustainability consultant for the built environment sector, including substantial Daylight, Energy and Overheating analysis experience
  • Accredited Energy Assessor and/or experience of using energy modelling software e.g. SAP, SBEM and IES is essential.
  • Experience of preparing Energy/Daylight/ Overheating reports for planning applications.
  • A good knowledge of UK planning and construction.
  • An excellent knowledge of UK regulations for Building Physics issues is advantageous.
