Five shortlists in this year’s Pineapples Awards 2023

We are thrilled to announce that four HTA projects have been shortlisted for this year’s Pineapples Awards.

Our new London Studio, 75 Wallis Road, has been shortlisted in the Creative Retrofit category.  The brief was to create a permanent home for our practice and secure the future of one of the more distinctive 19th-century buildings in the district. Our warehouse was built in 1868 and is identified as ‘the Heritage Building’ within the Hackney Wick masterplan. It has been used as a place of invention, manufacture, and storage for over 150 years. Our intervention provides a new purpose to the building, fully safeguarding its future and providing inspiration for increasing the reuse of our nation’s industrial buildings.

It’s been a busy year for HTA’s landscape team! We have worked on a range of innovative, biodiverse and climate resilient projects. We have completed Claremont Park at Brent Cross for Related Argent, achieving planning approval for the landscape led Masterplan at Dagenham Green for Peabody, and completed the detailed design of a sequence of public spaces at TwelveTrees Park for Berkeley Homes. We are delighted that all three have been shortlisted in different categories of the Pineapple awards!

TwelveTrees Park introduces 13 acres parks and gardens in the regeneration of a brownfield industrial site in Newham. Two new footbridges and a new station entrance will connect local people better and provide access to a network of green, healthy and playable spaces. A new 4.5 acre linear park will make space for nature to return to the site and allows for a future connection to the River Lea through the adjacent Gasholder site.

Landscape-led design is at the heart of HTA Design’s ethos, to create sustainable and beautiful places for people to live in and be proud of. Located on the Old Ford Stamping plant, Dagenham Green perfectly embodies this approach by placing green infrastructure and public realm at the heart of the masterplan with a highly legible network of streets, spaces and a new park that will significantly increase biodiversity, facilitate a wider urban nature recovery network and create a backdrop for the new community to thrive.

Claremont Park for Related Argent opened to the public in the summer 2022 and HTA were engaged to re-imagine Claremont Park’s planting design. We took this opportunity to transform the scheme into a biodiverse and climate resilient environment. The outcome is a stunning new park that changes with the seasons, creating a place for people and wildlife alike.
