The Sectors We Work In
HTA's Sustainable Futures team works across a wide range of residential and mixed-use sectors, helping to create homes and places that are low carbon, healthy and resilient.
Local authority led regeneration We work with councils and public bodies on estate regeneration and new council housing. We help them meet ambitious net zero targets while balancing carbon reduction with affordability and residents' comfort.
Housing associations and affordable housing We help registered providers deliver energy-efficient homes that keep bills low for residents. Our advice supports their ESG commitments and the long term performance of their homes.
Developer led regeneration and housing We partner with developers and design teams on large scale residential and mixed-use schemes. Our advice supports viable, deliverable projects that perform well at planning and beyond.
Build to rent and co-living We advise on rental and co-living developments, where long term performance, resident wellbeing and operational efficiency are priorities for owners and operators.
Retrofit and refurbishment We assess and improve the performance of existing buildings, including heritage and social housing. We identify upgrades that cut energy use and extend the life of buildings.
Modular and modern methods of construction We use building physics and carbon analysis to show how factory-built homes can reduce embodied carbon and deliver high-performing buildings quickly and at scale.
Passivhaus and ultra-low energy homes We work closely with architects on ultra-low energy schemes, showing that high performance and good design go hand in hand.
Mixed-use, community and later living We advise on schemes that combine homes with community, healthcare, education and workspace uses. These include homes for older people, where comfort and overheating risk need particular care.
Public realm and landscape We work with HTA's landscape team on microclimate, pedestrian comfort and carbon analysis for parks, streets and public spaces. This helps create outdoor spaces that are comfortable year-round and support biodiversity.
