Alexander Farr

Alex joined HTA in November 2016, and is based in Manchester. He has worked on a number of high profile, award winning schemes, from suburban homes to high-density urban regeneration, whilst contributing to BIM implementation in the studio. His major projects include the delivery of the Aylesbury First Development Site and Plot 18, various volumetric modular projects for Tide including Holloway Road Chapter Highbury II and Savoy Circus, and the regeneration design development of the Belgrave & Grosvenor Road estate.

Prior to joining HTA, Alex graduated with Distinction from the University of Sheffield with qualifications in both Architecture and Town and Regional Planning. He was additionally awarded a Commendation in Architectural Management and the Robert Henry Memorial Prize. Two essays, on the Governance of UAVs in civilian environments and the effects of the economy on automation in architecture, have been published at part of wider research projects. During this period, he worked as a freelance designer on the BBEST area neighbourhood plan in Sheffield. As an Architectural Assistant at Innes Associates, Alex worked on planning and delivery packages for new build and refurbished residential, educational and mixed-use projects. Alex also has experience in the Shropshire Council Planning department, contributing to the consultation process of the SAMDev document, and in validation of local rural planning applications.

Whilst at HTA, Alex has worked on the planning stages for suburban housing developments in Lower Graylingwell, Essex; Filwood Park, Bristol; and King’s Hill, Kent. He has also worked with the planning team on the Feering Neighbourhood Plan. He has since specialised in post-planning stages. Notable delivery schemes includes Aylesbury First Development Site, and Plot 18; New Avenue Phase 2; Chapter Highbury II at Holloway Road; and Savoy Circus, the latter two volumetric construction schemes for Tide. He has assisted in design development for West Green Place, and Croydon Small Site schemes including at the Belgrave & Grosvenor Road estate. He is keen on extending the use of BIM in project delivery and is a member of the BIM technology group to expand expertise among the Manchester studio.

Alex is currently working on the delivery of multiple plots within the Aylesbury Masterplan, and New Avenue Phase 2. He also frequently contributes to technical resolution on other schemes.
