Alex joined HTA in November 2016 and is based in Manchester. He has worked on several high-profile, award-winning schemes, from suburban homes to high-density urban regeneration, whilst contributing to BIM implementation in the studio. Specialising in post-planning design delivery, he has led several projects through tender and technical design stages to construction.

Alex graduated with Distinction from the University of Sheffield with qualifications in both Architecture and Town and Regional Planning. He was additionally awarded a Commendation in Architectural Management and the Robert Henry Memorial Prize. Two essays, on the Governance of UAVs in civilian environments and the effects of advanced manufacturing technologies on post-mining economies, have been published as part of wider research projects. 

Prior to joining HTA, Alex has worked across various sectors including public planning policy, development management, community planning groups and architectural practice. He has experience in community engagement, legislative frameworks, planning policy, and mixed-use, education and residential sectors.

Whilst at HTA, Alex has specialised in the post-planning design delivery of projects including leading the day-to-day design at New Avenue Phases 2 and 3, and Woodside Park. Other major delivery projects include West Green Place, Croydon Small Sites, the Aylesbury First Development Site, and Plot 18; Chapter Highbury II at Holloway Road; and Savoy Circus, the latter two volumetric construction schemes for Tide. 

Elsewhere, Alex has worked on the planning stages for suburban housing developments including Lower Graylingwell, Essex; Filwood Park, Bristol; and King’s Hill, Kent. He has also worked with the planning team on the Feering Neighbourhood Plan. He has a keen interest in the use of BIM in project delivery and is a member of the BIM technology group to expand expertise within the Manchester studio.

Alex is currently leading the design delivery and construction stages of New Avenue Phases 2 and 3 and Woodside Park.
