Rising 19 floors above East London, with 279 rooms overlooking the river and skyline. Locke London offers studios and suites designed for living, working and switching off, right in one of the city’s most dynamic neighbourhoods.
Locke London is located to the north of the Wood Wharf masterplan, at the entrance to Blackwall Basin. It acts as a gateway between Canary Wharf’s commercial hub and the new residential area of Wood Wharf.
The building offers 279 hotel rooms, a café, a bar, and flexible workspaces. A Michelin-rated restaurant on the top floor provides panoramic views across London. Inspired by the Art Deco era, the design connects the site’s historic 18th-century warehouse heritage with the modern glass offices of the 21st century. Its location presented an opportunity to contribute to the area’s architectural diversity. Art Deco principles help break down the building’s mass, create inviting entrances, and balance its vertical and horizontal forms.
Although the building’s appearance draws on the past, its construction makes use of modern methods. Through modular construction technology, HTA Design overcame the complex challenges of the site, delivering a high-quality design while minimising disruption to the surrounding area.
