George Street wins Offsite Award

We are delighted 101 George Street has won the award for Best Use of Volumetric Technology in the Offsite Awards 2020 - Submitted by Tide Construction & Vision Modular Systems.

Modular construction is highly suited to rental developments as building high-quality homes faster and with less disruption to the local area is of paramount importance in such a fast-evolving area of south London. The scheme at 101 George Street was constructed Tide Construction and specialist module provider Vision using almost 1,500 modules, and is being funded by Greystar.

The 546 new homes have been designed specifically for rent and will be professionally managed onsite. All homes will benefit from access to shared amenities at the top of each tower including panoramic walkways, gyms, club lounge and private dining/event rooms. The generous ground floor uses comprise of an incubator hub for businesses, café and art gallery.

The Winter Garden civic space at ground level is designed as an asset for the whole Croydon offering a new green space and creating a gateway to the emerging cultural quarter. Double height bays clad in glazed terracotta feature a vertical emphasis for the taller tower whilst the connecting tower uses diamond shaped panels that echoes mid-century modern examples and give a distinctive appearance enhanced by the play of light and shadow.

When complete 101 George Street will be the tallest modular building in the world, taking just over two years on site and only three years from concept to completion.
