Masterplanning & Urbanism
We believe that great places emerge from a thorough understanding of the local landscape and are developed with an appreciation of local traditions and through the collaboration of many design talents. Our masterplans range from the formation of new suburban neighbourhoods, extensions to our towns and cities, through to the renewal of the built fabric of existing neighbourhoods. We believe that good design adds value to the development process, helping to gain support through demonstrable benefits for local stakeholders.

The outcome of urban design based on this approach will be a set of rules and parameters for development in the form of a masterplan, design code or, sometimes more loosely, ratios set as limits determining quantity of floorspace in relation to site area, height of facades in relation to width of streets and open spaces, or density in terms of numbers of homes or habitable rooms permitted per unit of site area. Our outputs are compliant with the National Model Design Code, produced in an interdisciplinary process involving architects, urban designers, landscape architects and our engagement team.
