HTA have 3 shortlists in this year’s Building Design Architect of the Year Awards

Net Zero Architect of the Year - A crowning achievement of the past year was transforming a 1868 warehouse into HTA’s new London studio, creating a flexible, sustainable and modern workplace. Our in-house sustainability team prepared a comprehensive and holistic energy strategy which significantly reduces operational carbon. Since HTA made a commitment to the RIBA 2030 Climate Challenge, there’s been a clear route map to achieve zero carbon through the process of predicted and measured performance of buildings at design stage and in use. We engaged with all our clients to increase awareness and commitment to achieving this goal. Our progress has made significant strides throughout 2022 resulting in HTA becoming leaders in reporting our energy performance and whole-life carbon emissions of projects to RIBA.

Private Housing Architect of the Year - HTA’s deep commitment to design quality and construction innovation across a broad range of project types and scales, for a varied client group, hitting new standards of sustainability is evidenced by our submitted schemes.

Lyon’s Dock is the second building to be completed within HTA’s Greenford Quay masterplan for Greystar, delivered in just 18 months using Vision Modular’s volumetric system. City Points Lights at Elephant Park was also designed for private rent and mixed tenures with 222 home above a new cinema. Our design optimized factorymade components including pre-cast structural members, unitized façades, bolt-on balconies and bathroom pods, informing a new strategy for prefabrication for the developer Lendlease. At Stirling Road, Ealing we achieved consent to convert strategic industrial land to new workspace, adding 88 new homes in an increasingly mixed-use neighbourhood. Finally, we gained consent for 552 new homes at Darwin Green in Cambridge for national housebuilder Barratt, based on bespoke housetypes that increase density within a walkable neighbourhood.

Together these projects will deliver 1000 homes within a few short years, with designs that are appropriate to context, in terms of density, height, and housing types, and has been hailed by local planners and residents as setting new standards for quality design and sustainability.

Best Architect Employer of the Year - We believe our commitment to good employment practices, greater investment in the development and care of all our staff is fundamental reason for our business success. At HTA, we are dedicated to creating a supportive and healthy professional environment that nurtures talent, builds careers and fosters creativity, enjoyment and satisfaction in our shared endeavour. We work hard to be the best employer possible therefore it’s fantastic to receive recognition from the Building Design Architect of the Year Awards.
