Megan Walden-Jones

BSc Architecture and Environmental Design

Architectural Designer

Megan is an architectural designer with 5 years experience in practice. Her role involves supporting the project architect  as well as coordinating with junior members of staff to deliver packages of information across all stages of work.

Prior to joining HTA, Megan’s role as a Design Coordinator at a Developer and Contractor provided her with essential on site experience and commercial awareness. She acquired a vital project running skill set that enabled her to have a broad understanding of the built environment, seeing projects through from inception to handover. Here, she was able to utilise her earlier architectural experience to successfully coordinate complex design and technical solutions.

Megan’s former role as an Architect Assistant gave her considerable exposure and responsibility on varying residential schemes. At a small London practice, she successfully contributed to all architectural stages, managing planning through to technical design and delivery. She became accustomed to various design packages to communicate ideas, solutions and details.

At HTA Megan has contributed towards achieving planning consent for College Road; the world’s tallest modular tower, delivering 836 coliving units and shared amenity over 45 storeys. This project was unique in the fact there was little guidance nor precedents of large scale purpose built shared living. Megan therefore worked alongside the GLA and Croydon Council to establish and implement new design principles, defining the interior programme, whilst ensuring a cohesive approach between the interior and exterior architecture.

Among other notable projects, Megan has worked on the Belgrave and Grosvenor Small Sites project in Croydon, delivering 105 units in a complex, urban setting. Here she produced tender information, liaising with consultants and specialists through stages 1-4.

Keen to continue to build upon her wide breadth of experience in residential design and project running, Megan also leads up a series of private residential conversions, coordinating a small team from stages 1-3.

Megan is currently working on 1-3 South Drive, submitting to planning 40 no. affordable units in a suburban setting. Received by HTA following a history of unsuccessful pre applications, Megan is re designing the scheme with the support of our inhouse planning department and close discussions with Croydon Council. She is preparing a full set of Stage 3 information with the support of a junior team member.
