Located within the historic Nevern Square conservation area in Earl’s Court, No. 40-42 Nevern Square was converted into 38 selfcontained bedsits during the 1980s. Since this period, Peabody (formally Family Mosaic) have been operating the apartments as low cost housing for over 55’s.
However, after a stock condition survey in 2014, it was determined that urgent action was required to address fire safety issues. The building was also deemed unfit for older persons due to inadequate accessibility provisions and undersized homes that are significantly below modern standards.
As such, the proposals rearrange the existing plan to provide 20 larger self-contained apartments split between two communal cores.
